Mr. Cletus Pfeiffer- Interim Administrator  

  Mr. Pfeiffer graduated from Concordia Teachers College, Seward, NE in 1965 and began his teaching career at Trinity Lutheran School in Faribault, MN. During 28 years in Faribault he served as classroom teacher, athletic director and coach for 17 years, and principal for 11 years.

Following that he served Immanuel Lutheran School in Columbus, NE as principal for seven years, and subsequently as principal at Rochester Central Lutheran School in Rochester, MN from which he retired in 2007.

Since retirement he has served as interim principal at Faribault Lutheran School in Faribault, MN (one year), Immanuel Lutheran School in Lewiston, MN (two years), and currently at Immanuel Lutheran School, Freeport, IL.

He has earned a Masters Degree in physical education and a Specialist Degree in Elementary Administration. Honors received include Outstanding Lutheran Elementary Principal of the Year in 2005 from Lutheran Education Association, and National Distinguished Principal award from the US Department of Education in 2005.

He has written numerous articles for LCMS School Department and for Lutheran Education Association.

His wife Janice is also a teacher. They have two daughters, both Lutheran school teachers. Their two daughters have made them the proud grandparents of three grandchildren.

 


Mr. Michael Welton - 6th - 8th History and Educational Facilitator

Mr. Michael Welton joined the Immanuel staff in August 1988 serving as upper grades teacher and athletic director. He became Principal in 1992. After serving in that role for more than 20 years he stepped back to continue his focus on teaching and facilitating educational growth with the faculty. Mr. Welton teaches 6th, 7th & 8th grade history. He has a BA in history and education from Northeastern IL University and an MA in school administration from Concordia University, Chicago.

He is currently enrolled in a doctoral program through Concordia. Prior to his service at Immanuel, he taught 7th & 8th graders in Chicago. He and his wife, Sharon, have two daughters, Evelyn and Caroline, both graduates of Immanuel. Community service includes the Lena Lions, Lena Historical Society and Immanuel Lutheran Church.

Bonnie Larson - Kindergarten

Mrs. Bonnie Larson, the kindergarten teacher, has been at Immanuel since 1990. She has a BS in Early Childhood Education from Northern Illinois University. She has three children, Katie, Jennie and Andrew who also graduated from Immanuel. Mrs. Larson helps teach the Wee Ones in Sunday School, plays bells and is on the Board of Friendship and Evangelism at Immanuel Lutheran Church.

Lisa Pehl - Teacher aide

Mrs. Lisa Pehl attended Immanuel Lutheran School and graduated from Freeport High School. She and her husband, David, have two children, Summer at Freeport High School and Matthew at Immanuel Lutheran School. Mrs. Pehl has been an aide in the kindergarten room since 2005. She loves what every new year’s students bring to the classroom.

Mrs. Penny Julius - 1st grade teacher

Mrs. Penny Julius was born in Freeport, attended and graduated from Freeport High School. She graduated with a BS in elementary education from Western Illinois University. After graduation, she worked ten years in the banking industry. She joined the Immanuel staff in 1997 teaching Language Arts, adding the computer teacher duties in 1998 add became the 1st grade teacher in 2012. She and her husband, Dan, have two children, Grace & Gregory. They farm southeast of Freeport.

Kristi Simmons - Teacher aide

Mrs. Kristi Simmons joined the Immanuel staff in 2006 as a teacher aide. In 2012 she added assistant cook in our cafeteria program to her duties. She was born in Chicago, IL, moved to Freeport 18 years ago. She and her husband, Adron, have three children, Adron (AJ), Ashley and Andrew. She serves as a Sunday school teacher and church secretary at her church. She also serves in the community as a board member of the Salvation Army.

Christine Truckenmiller - 2nd grade teacher

Mrs. Christine Truckenmiller graduated with a BS in elementary education from Rockford College and has her M.S. in reading education from Northern Illinois University in DeKalb, IL. Mrs. Truckenmiller joined the Immanuel Staff in 1988, first teaching preschool. She has been teaching 2nd grade since 1991.

She and her husband, Gary, have one son, Drew who graduated from Immanuel Lutheran School. The family attends Crossroads Community Church.

Brenda Glandorf - 3rd grade teacher

Brenda Glandorf was born and raised in Iowa. She graduated from high school in Williamsburg, IA and from Wartburg College in Waverly, IA. She received her colloquy from Concordia College, Seward, NE. Before joining the Immanuel staff in 1997, Brenda taught at Lutheran Schools in Fulda, MN; Rochester, MN, and Elgin, IL. She has been teaching since 1981. Brenda is a member of the Quota Club and co-chairman on the Board of Friendship and Evangelism.

Kathy Vehmeier - 4th grade teacher

Mrs. Kathy Vehmeier, the fourth grade teacher, has been teaching at Immanuel since 1990. She has a B.A. in Elementary Education from Concordia University, Chicago (River Forest). She is married to Paul and has two step-children, Jacquie and Nathan. Mrs. Vehmeier helps teach the Wee Ones in Sunday School.

Victoria Mueller - 5th grade teacher

Victoria Mueller was born in Winfield, IL. She attended and graduated from Concordia University, Mequon Wi. She taught 7 and ½ years at St. Paul Lutheran School in Cincinnati, OH before coming to Immanuel in August, 2005. Miss Mueller loves teaching in a Lutheran school because she loves witnessing to her students about the love of God. In her classroom, she focuses on promoting a love of reading. She currently has over 1,400 books in her classroom library. She serves as congregational secretary, helps teach catechism, and plays in the bell choir.

Alison Lyvers - 6th Grade Teacher and PE teacher for to the 7th and 8th grades.

Mrs. Allison Lyvers is a graduate of Concordia University in Chicago. She taught at Zion Lutheran School in Beecher, IL for 2 years before coming to Immanuel in 2011. Mrs. Lyvers is an alumni of Immanuel. She loves sharing the love of Jesus and the joy of the resurrection with her students. She strives to develop her students' time management and organizational skills. She serves as a member of the board of youth and helps teach catechism.

Radina (Dina) Brobst - 7 & 8th Math and Science Teacher and Computers

Mrs. Radina Brobst is the 7th and 8th grade math and science teacher, as well as the 7th grade homeroom teacher.  Additionally, she teaches computers to all of Immanuel’s students.  She attended Coe College in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. Mrs. Brobst graduated with a BA with majors in Mathematics and Secondary Education.  Mrs. Brobst taught at Forreston High School for 14 years prior to joining Immanuel in August, 2012.  She has two sons, Aiden and Austin, that attend Immanuel.

Beth Barton - 7th & 8th grade Language Arts teacher

Mrs. Beth Barton was born in Idaho. She graduated from Minot State College in North Dakota with a double major in regular elementary education and education of the deaf in 1977. She taught deaf children for three years. Mrs. Barton has been teaching 7th & 8th Language Arts since 1991. She enjoys developing her students' writing and grammar skills, but her greatest joy is talking about her Savior with them. She and her husband, David raised four children and now are enjoying the grandchildren they have been blessed with.

Stacy Miller - Kindergarten - 5th Physical Education

Miss Stacy Miller joined Immanuel’s staff in August 2012.  After completing her studies at Highland College and Rockford College, she received her Masters of Education from National Louis University. Before joining our staff, Miss Miller worked for 9 years for the Forrestville Valley School District.   Miss Miller has a passion to help students learn to enjoy lifelong fitness.  When she is not teaching physical education you may see her driving a Forreston school bus, working with her church’s youth group, or coaching softball.

Nancy E. Luepke - Algebra teacher

Mrs. Nancy Luepke graduated from Central College, Pella, Iowa. She taught in the Earlville School District before moving to Freeport. She worked for the Freeport Junior High Truancy Department for 2 years, before joining the Immanuel staff in 1988. Mrs. Luepke teaches Algebra. She has also taught at Tri-County Christian School and Highland Community College. She and her husband, Mark, have two grown children Daniel and Danita. She is a member of Prince of Peace Lutheran Church.

Diane Dietmeier - Music Director

Mrs. Diane Dietmeier graduated from Elizabeth High School, attended Highland Community College and Illinois State University. After graduation, she did graduate work in Salzburg, Austria. Mrs. Dietmeier has taught music in the Dixon schools, Forrestville Valley School District, Highland Community College and Immanuel where she has been on the staff since 1987. She and her husband, Eric, have two children, Lane, who works in Chicago and Taylor who teaches in North Carolina.

Glenna Hill – School Secretary

Mrs. Glenna Hill has been the school secretary since August 2012, and volunteered in the school office for five years before that.  Prior to being a stay-at-home Mom, Mrs. Hill  worked at Hamilton Sundstrand for 19 years. Her youngest son, Lucas, attends Immanuel Lutheran School.  Mrs. Hill serves as a member of Immanuel’s  board of youth, plays in the bell choir, and helps teach Sunday school.  When Mrs. Hill isn't at Immanuel she enjoys spending time with her grandchildren, volunteering, and supporting her husband’s business ventures.

Alice Schwichtenberg - Quest Teacher

Mrs. Alice Schwichtenberg was born in Minnesota. She attended college at Makota, MN. She is the wife of our pastor, Rev. Willis Schwichtenberg. Mrs. Schwichtenberg is the Quest teacher. She and her husband have four children, Jonathan, Jennifer, Jason & Jodee. She teaches the new member class for the church.

Lynn Hartog - 6th, 7th & 8th Art Teacher

Mrs. Lynn Hartog joined the Immanuel staff in 2008 as the art teacher for the 6th, 7th, and 8th grade classes. She and her husband, Tom, have two daughters.

Beth Nagel - Cafeteria Manager

Mrs. Beth Nagel, joined Immanuel as assistant cook in 2000. In 2007, she changed jobs and became the church janitor. She now holds this position as the Cafeteria Manager starting in 2011. She and her husband, Dave, have two children Amber and Josh and three grandchildren. Mrs. Nagel helps with the Farmer’s Market during the summer where she has a booth for her baked goods.


Suzi Meyerhofer - Cafeteria Monitor

Mrs. Suzi Meyerhofer grew up in Biloxi, MS. She has been the cafeteria monitor since 2009. Mrs. Meyerhofer helped with the moonlight bowling fundraiser for the playground. She and her husband, Tim, have two children, Dylan & Kaitlyn who attend Immanuel School.

Dave Thompson - School janitor

Dave Thompson retired after 37 years with Bank of America as Vice President of Check Operations. He and his wife, Sharon, moved to Lake Carroll in 2004. Dave worked as the produce manager for Sullivan’s Food – Lena and retired in June, 2010. He has been with Immanuel since 2006. He is a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church, Lena.

Sharon Thompson – School Janitor

Mrs. Sharon Thompson has been a familiar face at Immanuel since 2006.   She was part of Immanuel’s Christian Childrens’ Development Center staff prior to becoming part of our husband and wife janitorial team.  Prior to working at Immanuel, Mrs. Thompson was a Lutheran school teacher for almost 20 years.

Jared Sheppard - Athletic Director

Mr. Jared Sheppard serves as our athletic director: organizing the gym and sports schedules and facilitating that program.  Mr. Sheppard is an Immanuel dad, a graduate of Knox College (where he played football) and the Illinois Institute of Technology.  He works for the Bank of America, but is serving Immanuel in this position because he wants to be more involved with the school and community and because athletics has been and continues to be an important part of his life.
